Today is a great day for spending time with family, BBQ, and fireworks. Let’s honor both the spirit and the letters of the words in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The founders gave us a framework to govern. The American experiment has come a long way but the work is incomplete. Let’s remember the importance of the Fourth Amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Spendology was founded to give Decision Power to the People. As the CEO & Founder, I would like to express my support for the Restore the Fourth movement. The purpose of the movement is to ensure that the Fourth Amendment, preventing search or seizure of property without a warrant, is under attack with the recently unveiled activities of the NSA. Would the founders be proud of America’s snooping? The founders gave us a framework to continue to perfect our democracy. It is a work in progress. Let’s roll up our sleeves, contact our representatives and get involved! Happy Independence Day!
